Economic Stimulus — Will it Work?

A huge thank-you to Cindy for recording my podcast! Here is the text if you can’t listen to the audio:

Hi, Welcome to Financial-Tip.com’s premier podcast, “Economic Stimulus: Will it Work?”

As of this week, economic stimulus checks from the government are hitting bank accounts and mailboxes across the nation.

Those who e-filed their taxes on time will be the first to receive checks, paper filers are next in line, and those who have not yet filed won’t see anything until they complete their returns.

The question many have is, will the economic stimulus package passed by congress have enough of an impact on the economy?

The answer is debated among financial experts, but the consensus is that these measures may check the economic slowdown we’re facing, but not necessarily prevent it entirely.

Some economic outlooks tell us to expect a prolonged recession, stemming from the real estate meltdown, banking crisis, the costly war in Iraq and flawed monetary policy.

It’s important to realize that underneath all of these bubbles is an even bigger problem: the debt-based monetary system facilitated by the Federal Reserve.

The Federal Reserve is a White Elephant in the room that most politicians won’t touch, even as they wax eloquent about the bipartisan economic stimulus effort.

But what nobody’s talking about is that the stimulus checks are backed by debt. And this is on top of our national debt of $9 trillion, with $1.4 billion added daily.

Not to mention the astounding amount of U.S. Consumer and business debt, also in the trillions collectively.

My analysis?

A few hundred dollars sent to each taxpayer isn’t going to save our economy. The money is simply increasing our debt as a nation.

People will use the checks to make up the shortfall in their budgets caused by soaring gasoline and grocery prices, perhaps pay off a little debt or add a few dollars to their savings, if they have any.

If you want to make a real difference to our economy, support and vote for candidates who discuss the Federal Reserve and who will work to abolish its detrimental policies.

That kind of economic stimulus might actually work.

  2. Thanks so much, Tim. I am so glad you’ve been reading, let me know if there is anything in particular you’d like to see covered.

  3. As long as they keep printing money and increasing the deficit, nothing is going to work. Everything seems so out of control right now, it’s ridiculous.
